Biography

Daniel O'Connor centers his law practice around identifying and implementing practical solutions to help keep clients out of conflict and out of court. As a husband to an awesome wife and the father to two young children, he understands the love and responsibility that people feel for their loved ones. Like many of his clients, he has worked hard to model strong work ethic for his children, to instill the value of an intentional relationship with God our creator, and to provide financial support for opportunities which will help his children be equipped to be productive adults who will carry on a positive legacy.

However, in his years of practice he has noticed that many people with similar good intentions fail to plan properly, and the failure to plan often results in disasters which damage their families. No one wants to leave their children without the right guardian and support that they need, and neither does anyone want their children to have to fight for the resources that you worked so hard for. Not only does poor planning result in loss of wealth, but it often results in the loss of values and family harmony that we all work hard to pass on. Daniel hates to see any family endure this kind of loss, and his mission as an attorney is to educate clients on how to plan for preserving their legacy and to implement solutions that make sense for each individual client.

Daniel enjoys educating his clients and establishing lasting relationships instead of simply handling a single transaction. The areas of practice in which he implements this philosophy are estate planning, real estate, and small business legal services.

Daniel began his career as a general practitioner handling almost all types of cases, in and out of court. What he learned, however, is that you cannot be an expert in everything, and any attorney who tells you otherwise is not being honest. Clients deserve the best, and meaningful legal advising requires an investment of significant time and education in limited practice areas. In his early practice, Daniel handled many litigated cases in various contexts and witnessed the avoidable pain and expense that individuals and businesses might have avoided with better counsel on the front end. As a result, he decided to commit his practice to educating clients and advising them on how to create plans and systems to more easily resolve conflicts and stay out of court. An investment in a plan is worth much more than what it costs you in money, time, and loss of peace of mind when you have a poor system for dealing with inevitable taxes, losses, and conflicts. If you have a great foundation for your business supported by trusted advisors, you can focus on what you are good at, enjoying your life and making a living. If you care about protecting your interests in your property, leaving a legacy for your family, and/or establishing a business that lasts, Daniel wants to be your trusted legal advisor to support you on your journey.

Daniel has been with the firm since 2012 and became a partner with Macky Bryant in 2017, forming Bryant O'Connor LLP. In 2021, Daniel became the owner of Bryant & O'Connor Law Firm, shifting the focus of the firm to helping families and small business owners purchase and sell real estate and make excellent plans for their estates and businesses.

A native of Montgomery County, Georgia, Daniel is honored to practice law and live in the Vidalia area. "It was always my dream to advance the interests of individuals in our rural community, and my practice allows me to do just that," Daniel explains. "This is a great community for raising a family and making a living. I want to keep it that way and help it grow. This area deserves professional leaders who provide the same quality of professional service as can be found in more populated areas." Daniel also represents multiple local municipalities and a school board.

Daniel is married to Rizza and the father to young Judson and Evie. He is an enthusiastic member of the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia and is active in numerous local organizations, including having served as President of the Vidalia Kiwanis Club. He graduated in 2012 as Juris Doctor from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, where he served on the Law Review, and was a member of the Brainerd Currie Honor Society. Prior to law school, he graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Georgia in 2009 and is loving the recent success of the Dawgs on the football field. Daniel is admitted to the Georgia Bar and can practice in any Georgia state court as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. He has been named a Super Lawyer Rising Star for two consecutive years and is a graduate of the 2020-2021 Class of Leadership Georgia and also a graduate of Toombs-Montgomery County Leadership.

Among other things, Daniel likes studying and discussing the Bible, following the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves, discovering history, reading books and listening to podcasts about self-improvement, playing Zelda games, engaging in outdoor activities with family, and partaking in good food and drink.
